Biddenden sits about 30 miles South-East of London. Nearby major towns are Maidstone, Ashford, Hastings, Tunbridge Wells. It’s a pretty village with Flemish weavers’ cottages stretching along the High Street. One of those cottages is The West House.

The West House Restaurant began in 2002. Graham Garrett had learned his craft in London with respected chefs, Nico Ladenis and Richard Corrigan, but yearned for his own place.

The restaurant seats up to 32, and Graham does the cooking. Jackie, Graham’s wife, has an assistant to help in the dining-room. Her welcome and the friendly, informal style of service, plus a fair-priced wine list, offers a unique dining experience. Open for lunch each day except Saturday and Monday; and for dinner, Tuesday to Saturday. It’s a non-smoking atmosphere!

The menus are straightforward and fixed-price: £35.00 for three courses at dinner. Lunch is £25.00 for three courses, or £22.00 for two. Sunday lunch is £35.00 ( for three courses) or £29.00 (two courses). Plus a 12.5% optional service charge. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

The passion of Graham’s cooking is centred on the best local produce, with clean, strong flavours. It’s a style that sings, and has been described as ‘ruthlessly seasonal’. By way of recommendation, they’ve had a Michelin star since 2004, positive Good Food Guide reports, and much  complimentary journalistic comment. May we suggest you read some reviews?
